7th Asian Annual Festival Experience Asia 2011
October 8, 2011
FAMU homecoming. It was suggested by the Police Department
that we begin our event later and go on until 6 p.m. We will
have police available for our event.
Discussion about having a beer garden. Aurora is contacting
Cone Distributors to see how they can help us with this. If
we do have one it will be located at the Genevieve Randolph
Park with a police officer. We will need bands and someone
to check the id's. Spectators will not be able to walk around
with beer- they have to stay in the beer garden.
Monroe St. will be closed due to the parade which is going
to end around 11:30 a.m. or 12 noon. This means that we have
to make sure that the vendors will have an opportunity to
set up very early (6 a.m.) as the street will be closed for
the parade. The line-up for the FAMU parade usually begins
at 5:30 a.m.
As of Sunday we had 8 vendors, not seven for food. Got another
food vendor this past Friday afternoon. Aurora Hansen has
her check.
Tee-shirts were discussed and the design was voted upon.
Aurora will send Nilubon the tee-shirt people who would like
to bid on the printing of the shirts. We are getting 250 shirts
which will not have the year on it so that it may be used
anytime during the year. We had a discussion on the tee-shirt
design and we agreed on the design by a show of hands. Sizes
will be Youth large, adult medium, large and extra large.
The adult small is the same size as the child large.
Volunteers- need a lot of volunteers for that day. Aurora
asked Mrs. Norma English to be the Volunteer chairperson so
that these volunteers can report to her directly.
Girl Scouts said that they were interested in the event.
Aurora will follow up on it.
Joyce will assist in the Downtown Market on September 24
and will bring the table and chairs. Aurora will have more
postcards printed.
October 1 is the next time ACT need volunteers for the Downtown
Market
Membership dues are due.
Next Meeting will be held on September 25 at the same time
to finalize planning of the event.
